Sagisa offers membrane bioreactors (MBR) that combine biological treatment with membrane filtration.

A membrane bioreactor system has a number of advantages over a conventional waste water system:

• Elimination of secondary clarifier and tertiary filtration process reduces treatment steps, footprint, and hence overall capital investment.
• The MBR process, compared to a conventional activated sludge process, runs at a higher mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) and sludge age; this leads to better biodegradation of soluble organic compounds.
• Higher sludge age promotes the growth of nitrifying bacteria and results in better nitrogen removal.
• Use of Ultrafiltration (UF) ensures that suspended solids (SS) permeate concentration is usually below detection limit.
• Effluent disinfection is achieved by removal of microorganisms.
• Reduced sludge production due to high sludge age.
