Reverse Flow Cyclones
Increasing dust loads have increased the demands on filter systems. Cyclones are increasingly used to reduce the mass challenge and control the size distribution profile of contaminants before final filtration. Pre-separation and pre-configuration of the challenging solids to suit the final filter medium increase the filter's operational life and reduces the need for cleaning. Cyclones offer a substantial reduction in costs due to the reduced requirements for downstream filtration and lower maintenance costs.

The cyclone designs permit up to 98% removal of the contaminant mass challenge and will function effectively down to 30% of their design flow whilst still providing mass separation efficiencies of the order of 50%. Differential pressures at design operating conditions will be typically controlled in the region of 300-400 mbar with a reduced flow condition operating at between 30 and 50 mbar.
